I've been on this project now for roughly 6 weeks. The project consists on picking a place and words (between 7 words I picked the ones on the title) and connecting the words to the place to explore possibilities and perspectives.
As my place, I chose my local park in Kings Heath. Before moving to Kings Heath I had visited the park and instantly fell in love with it. It's small but every time I visit it, I feel whole. Picking it as my place for inspiration and experiment was no surprise then. It gives me reason to go back there 2 to 3 times per week. It was great to capture it through different lenses with a different thought. In addition to all emotions it graces me with, it's home of the School of Horticulture, holding classes and volunteering work. www.birmingham.gov.uk/kingsheathpark The images were taken with my Cannon 500D on manual (hands up if you are anti-auto!). None of the pictures have been modified (I used filter on 2 pictures for project purposes and those have been captioned). Here are some shots of this beautiful place...

If you've never tried to make photograms (or rayographs www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/265487) you don't know how fun photography can be! They are photographic images but without the use of cameras. It's produced by placing objects on a light-sensitive paper such as photographic paper and exposing them to light for a specific amount of time. This is how they come up... The photograms above are from Man Ray, one of the biggest photogram artists of all times.
I could literally spend all day in the darkroom doing these. They're fun and quick to make and the images can come out so beautiful. Definitely worth giving it a go if you get the chance. The following pictures are my ones done for a project I'm currently working on... |
